Rowing a seaworthy slide seat rowboat using the combined power of your legs, core, and arms strengthens your body mind and soul.

The Classic Whitehall Spirit® Tyee 14 sculling rowboat rows in conditions that are way too rough for a racing scull or an open water shell. The long smooth glide is amazing for a boat this size. There’s room for a friend or two and the dog. A speed of 3 to 5 knots (6 to 9 km/h) can be maintained for hours with little stress on the rower.

The Tyee 14 features attractive lapstrake planking called ‘clinker style’ back in the day. Almost anyone can row this boat and without difficulty. The hull is slightly wider and fuller than a Classic Whitehall Spirit® 14. This is why it holds more people and carries a heavier load.

A large gear locker is accessed through a hatch on the foredeck. This is great for stowing such items as small gas tanks, tackle boxes or lifejackets to be left aboard and kept dry and secure. On the top of this foredeck is a perfect spot for the dog to lounge.

This boat is fitted with a removable sliding seat unit with hinging bronze outriggers. These tough cast bronze riggers fold inboard making coming alongside dock or yacht safe and simple and also makes boarding and exiting the boat much easier.

The slide seat unit will install or remove in minutes. Without it the boat is a traditional oars-on-the-gunnel fixed seat rowboat great for family fun or as a yacht tender. The Tyee 14 is suited for an outboard motor such as the Torqeedo electric outboard or other small motor on the transom. Be sure to include the motor pad factory option on your order.

It’s set up for standard 9’6” (288cm) sculling oars. We can supply Club Style carbon fiber sculling oars shipped along with your boat.

If you require traditional oars we supply Spruce/Carbon Traditional Oars with Leather collars and pressure cast oarlocks or all Carbon Fiber Traditional Oars with plastic collars and offset oarlocks.

The Classic Whitehall Spirit® Tyee 14 is right at home on the deck of a yacht, at the cottage, on a trailer in the garage or parked on a dock. If stored outside on Dock Bunk, or a Boat Dolly, or a small boat trailer and exposed to the elements Lexan battens and Sunbrella®️ cover are recommended. For tying up to a dock add a set of tie-up lines and fenders to your order.

The Tyee 14 is available with the factory option of a removable solid teak floorboard or a fully buoyant Ocean Tender Floor adding substantial reserve buoyancy, handy when the boat is used as a yacht tender. Simply pull the drain plug and the empty boat self-bails.

Other factory options include a stainless steel keel strip or a custom name on the transom.
