The Classic Whitehall Spirit® Tyee 14 makes rowing on rivers, lakes, and the ocean safe and rewarding.

It easily handles wind, waves and wakes. It has fuller beam extending along the hull and the transom is three inches wider than the Classic Whitehall Spirit® 14. This means it can carry a heavier load or an outboard motor on the transom.

The Tyee 14 is an exact replica of the famous Campbell River Tyee salmon fishing rowboat designed by Ned Painter in 1910. Ned built the originals in wood with oak ribs and red cedar planking. They became very popular with local fishermen and are renowned for the way they carry a heavy load while handling the choppy tidal waters around Campbell River. The Tyee 14 features exquisite lapstrake-style planking called ‘clinker built’ back in the day. It has an ‘untucked’ transom rather than the ‘wineglass’ shape of a Whitehall.

Two rowing positions enable two rowers to row at the same time although It is usually rowed by one person from the aft position. The forward storage locker enables gas tanks, tackle boxes, or lifejackets to be left aboard, keeping them dry and secure.

There is a choice of Spruce/Carbon Traditional Oars with Leather collars and pressure cast oarlocks or all Carbon Fiber Traditional Oars with plastic collars and offset oarlocks.

The Tyee 14 is available with a factory option of a removable solid teak floorboard or a fully buoyant Ocean Tender Floor This floor adds substantial reserve buoyancy, handy for when the boat is used as a ship’s tender or shore boat. Simply pull the drain plug and the empty boat self-bails.

This Classic Whitehall Spirit® Tyee 14 is right at home at the cottage, on the deck of a yacht, on a trailer in the garage or parked on a dock. If stored outside exposed to weather on a Dock Bunk, or Boat Dolly, or small boat trailer, fitting it with Lexan battens and a fitted Sunbrella cover is recommended.
