I’m often asked “what is the most practical utilitarian rowboat that Whitehall produces?”

Without a doubt, the best all-around , do everything rowboat, that we build, is the Whitehall Spirit®️Tyee 14.

First of all, it’s a double position, fixed seat traditional rowing boat that can be rowed by one or two people.
Family fun to the fullest and it rows exceptionally well.

If you remove the center fixed seats and drop in a sculling unit and hinged bronze outriggers it becomes a single position, slide seat sculling boat.

Slide seat sculling is an ultimate rowing experience, one of the best forms of low impact full body exercise on the planet,”ideal for maintaining and establishing health and vigour as one ages.

It’s available as a full on sailboat fitted with a with a drop bronze centreboard and built in mast support enabling a free standing mast, mainsail, jib, tiller and rudder.

There’s room for three adults to enjoy sailing together or out by yourself enjoying single handed sailing.

Finally, when fitted with a motor pad and a small outboard it becomes a very cool motor boat.

With its fuller shaped hull, slightly broader transom, without the wine glass stern of a thoroughbred Classic Whitehall®, the Tyee 14 carries bigger load, including an outboard motor, very well.

We highly recommend the electric Torqeedo 403 outboard motor as a goto auxiliary to oar power.
Using a small outboard motor makes this boat able to get to out of the way fishing spots quickly for row trolling, still fishing or fly fishing.

It’s been used as a salmon fishing boat for generations.

The Classic Whitehall Spirit® Tyee 14 was used by professional salmon fishing guides while fishing in the famous Tyee salmon hole at Campbell River BC for over a century.

It easily handles the weight of three adults aboard while rowing in choppy rough tidal water.
