The Westcoast rowboat is a versatile twelve footer, that is bigger than most yacht dinghies and easily carries three or four adults. It handles well under oars and will carry a 2 to 6.5 hp. outboard on its broad stern. It has a traditional “Westcoast” appearance, a fully portioned, balanced and attractive rowboat.
It doesn’t row quite like a pulling rowboat such as the Whitehall. Instead this rowboat handles rather like a large Minto, but tracks better due to its longer keel.
We recommend 8’ oars for this model set up for non-overlapped use depending on the preferences of the rower. 7’6’ oars are a little short for the beam.
The Westcoast traditional rowboat is renowned for its ability to handle choppy waves, and rough conditions. The Westcoast is available with an optional solid teak floor, or as a slide seat sculling boat or sailing rowboat.
