BRAVE NEWS WAVES FROM WHITEHALL
By Harold Aune, VP Whitehall Rowing and Sail

SOLO 14 PROGRESS REPORT

Soon – very soon – our first fleet of new Solo 14s will be coming off their construction cradles in what we are now calling our “Solo Salon” – a fitting title for where our sweet little boats are coming together beautifully.  Watch for an announcement  about the splashy launch we are planning for this new addition to the Whitehall line.

Our nifty new folding outriggers proved to be a challenge for the foundry, but those teething problems are being solved.

NEW WHITEHALL JIB SHEET JAMMER

Here’s an item we’ve created to make life easier for those with sailing models. Take a look at our handy Jib Sheet Jammer that fits into the teak gunnel.  It’s easily removable when not needed. Many customers have requested such a device to simplify line handling. So we jumped to it!

Please be careful in gusty wind conditions though, as unballasted boats heel over quickly and releasing a sheet has to happen FAST.

Call us for a quote, as it is not posted on-line or in the catalog yet.

DECK OR DOCK: WESTCOAST SHOREBOAT AN EXERCISE IN PLEASURE

Mr. Evan Maxwell and his wife Anne arrived here in Victoria in late May aboard their beautiful Grand Banks 42’ Europa the St. Kilda.  From their home port of Anacortes, they cruised over to take delivery of their new Westcoast 11’6” shoreboat.  Not only will it be a fine tender, but it will also be the ship’s in-house exercise machine.  Production Manager Colin Rolls installed a  classy leather-bound, solid teak set of chocks for the Westcoast to nest in.

You’ll see the Westcoast proudly perched either atop the aft deck of the St. Kilda or back home in Anacortes on their dock.  The Maxwells love being able to get out a couple of times a week for a good slide-seat row when they are not cruising.

I called Evan to see how he was enjoying his new Westcoast.  He reported that he was impressed at the distance covered in quite short order and felt very satisfied with the new addition to his sailing family.

We have found that the boat is quite quick and easily rows at four knots without straining yourself at all.
