Whitehall’s Marie Hutchinson takes a few moments to head out for a dawn row at Elk Lake rowing a Solo 14. There’s nothing like a quiet row with the early morning mists yet to be burned off by the rising sun. 


The Official Victoria Launch of the Solo 14 Is Coming Up And You’re Invited!


Everyone is invited to the splashy launch of the new Whitehall Spirit Solo Sunday September 30 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Victoria Canoe And Kayak Club, 355 Gorge Road West. There will be colourful demonstrations by young rowing stars, music, a tent with free coffee and snacks and more.  CBC Radio local morning man Gregor Craigie is the host for the official ceremony that launches the boat at 2 p.m.  Parking is available  there or nearby in the local shopping centre across the street.

Marie and I really hope to see you there. Meet the expert craftsmen who build these unique classics.
 

News From The Shop Floor


Finally the preordered Whitehall Spirit Solo 14s have hit the water with many shipped, more enroute to their new owners.
 
A load headed east last week with our company truck having to avoid the disastrous floods from the extreme weather moving through Minnesota.

Ace driver Wilf Lewis confidently negotiated his way unscathed, mindful of his precious cargo of seaworthy Whitehalls.

On the last trip Wilf took these digital stills of new owners  receiving their new Whitehall Spirit boats.

Double Axle Boat Dollies Prove Great For Handling Whitehall 17s


We are always looking for ways to make your life easier. Even a 400 lb + boat can be handled with aplomb using a double axle dolly from Seitech. With the boat evenly balanced on four wheels, transporting it by hand for a block or two is really no problem, as demonstrated by Marie Hutchinson.


Recently we discovered an easy way to transport the dolly - on the boat while it is on the trailer.

Place it upside down across the gunnels with the wheels removed and the handle resting on the trailer post. Secure it well though, because you don’t want to hear another driver saying ‘Hello Dolly’ as it bounces down the road.

LED Portable Running Lights  For Rowing At Night



Are you visible enough at night? I recently tried out a set of bright LED running lights from Innovative Lighting Inc. They are said to extend battery life by 10x and require just 4 AA sized batteries each.

The stern white lights clamp onto the transom. The red/green lights clamp onto the bow on the classic models or suction onto the Solo 14 bow. We added a lanyard so it can’t go overboard.
